Static monsters wrap

By Carl Sherry November 11, 2017

So with 29 venues running this epic Strongman push/pull and around 300 athletes participating we had some incredible numbers lifted.

Team Cerberus was well represented and left their mark on the competition. In the Men's U80 we had the top 2 athletes from around the globe with Patrick "Canon" Castelli Hitting a conservative 122.5kg log and a 330 kg deadlift giving him a Monster total of 452.5kg's!

We then had Carl Sherry claiming top spot with a new Australian U80 record133kg log & a 346kg deadlift combining for a 479kg Monster total!

In the Men's Open we had big coco hit a 165 log opener & finally hit a 400kg deadlift! This gave Coco a 565 total & 5th overall.

We then had "Big Bad Santa" Albie Mushaney who finished 11th in the Open & won the Masters with a 145.5 log & a 370.5 deadlift for a 516 Monster total!

The crowning achievementof my day at the @static_monsters show in Fairbanks Alaska. Opened with a 735 then took 775 then I made the call for 815. I've never shook during a lift in my life so it startled me a little bit at first. But I knew if a could get it off the ground I could lock it out. I've met some really great people this weekend and now officially love Alaska. Thank you to @cerberus_strength_usa for the figure 8 straps because this wouldn't have happened without them. Thank you to @beardilizer for making my beard s huge hit up here. I drank @youwiinsports all day to make this happen. Thank you to @teamalphastarr for help with the diet. I'm only going to get leaner and stronger because of @angelstarr_ifbbpro #staticmonsters #axledeadlift #iwanttogotoaustralia #worldsstrongestsanta #jackedsanta #DefeatDestroyDevour

In the Womens we had Lightweight strongwomen Lauren Ashleigh hit some impressive numbers with a 77.5kg log & a 210 kg deadlift for a 287.5 monster total!

This was the first event I failed in when I started dabbling in Strongman July 2016... couldn't get 40kg above my head to save my self. I'm stoked to hit 77.5kg this weekend on my second lift and know that's not my limit. In hindsight I should of gone to 80kg for my third lift.... but that's not how I work. My last attempts are usually saved for something I am at a 50/50 chance of getting as I like to know how close I am to success in competition conditions....I got the 85kg up to just above my head with no lockout, so now I work on making that a second lift next run.....and possibly learning not to strict press or bicep curl....maybe 😂🤔 Need to really be channelling the pro Cerberus Team mates of mine @cerberus_strength_australia....this is their event for days! @carlsherry @katemitchellparker @coco_strongman . #loglift #axledeadlift #maxaxle #maxlog #logpress #staticmonsters #monstertotal #staticmasters #staticstrength #strongwoman #strongman #australianstrongmanalliance #adaptivestrongman #strongmangoldcoast #cocosgym #startingstrongman #usa #nz #uk #brunei #canada #australia #southafrica #Philippines #hongkong #sweden #india #Malaysia

So the athletes in the top 10 get an invite to compete in the Gold Coast for Static monsters worlds next May & team Cerberus will be well represented.
